Totes vs. Drums

The reasons for changing from drums to totes are both logical and economical.  Your costs are lowered due to:

Reduction in time for filling, sealing, and labeling
  • Space savings during transport and storage periods
  • Eliminating product waste while discharging and draining containers
  • Simpler inventory control
  • Multiple use: The containers may be filled, transported and discharged many times during their useful life
  • Ability to be reconditioned: the bottles, valves, and pallets can be replaced very easily

Benefits:

  1.  Five drums each with a volume of 55 gallons use more space than one 275-gallon tote.  Six drums each with a volume of 55 gallons use more space than one 330-gallon tote.  This translates to a 25% better space utilization.
  2. The tote meets international transport standards and regulations.
  3. The tote is easily emptied by the 2" discharge valve, which does not require a pump.  If desired, the tote can be emptied with a pump by accessing the 6" top filling port.
  4. The special design of the discharge valve ensures precise control when discharging substances of various viscosities.  The different types of gasket materials extend the range of applications and offer resistance to nearly all chemical products.
  5. The tote offers an ideal system of incorporating easy-to-fit exchangeable steel, wood and plastic component, making the tote a fully reusable multi-trip package.
  • As you can see, in many applications the tote system is more economical than drums.  If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us
